Robert M. Becker
Chairman Emeritus
NRT LLC

Robert M. Becker is chairman emeritus for NRT LLC. In this capacity, Becker maintains an advisory role with NRT’s leadership team and is responsible for ongoing management responsibility for The Sunshine Group, an NRT-owned company headquartered in New York City.

Becker joined NRT as president and chief executive officer in May 1997. Most recently, he served as chairman and chief executive officer, overseeing NRT’s family of companies that comprise nearly 1,000 residential real estate offices and 59,000 sales associates located in more than 35 major metropolitan areas across the United States, focusing on the long-term, strategic direction of the organization. In 2004, NRT reached a total sales volume of $200 billion — a record for the real estate industry.

Today, NRT is the largest and most successful residential real estate brokerage company in the nation. A subsidiary of Cendant Corporation (NYSE: CD), NRT operates residential real estate offices under COLDWELL BANKER®, ERA®, Sotheby’s International Realty, The Corcoran Group and The Sunshine Group.

Becker has overseen NRT’s acquisitions of more than 290 premier, independent residential real estate firms in key markets throughout the country, as well as the company’s recent expansion into the United Kingdom. This list of acquisitions includes such distinguished firms as The Corcoran Group (Manhattan), Arvida Realty Services (Florida), Burnet Financial Group (Minnesota and Chicago), The DeWolfe Companies, Inc. (New England), Jon Douglas Company (California) and Pardoe Real Estate (Washington, D.C.). Each of these firms was among the nation’s largest residential real estate companies when NRT acquired them.

Prior to his role as president and chief executive officer for NRT, Becker served as president and chief executive officer of Coldwell Banker Real Estate Corporation, a subsidiary of Cendant (then HFS Incorporated). Coldwell Banker Real Estate Corporation is one of the nation’s leading real estate sales organizations with over 3,700 franchised real estate offices and more than 120,000 agents and brokers worldwide.

Becker was appointed president and chief executive officer of Coldwell Banker following its purchase by HFS in May 1996. Under Becker’s leadership, Coldwell Banker Real Estate Corporation launched a new, national television advertising campaign; developed international franchise agreements for the first time in company history; expanded Coldwell Banker’s commercial real estate division; and achieved an 80 percent growth in the number of new franchises sold.

Prior to being president and chief executive officer of Coldwell Banker Real Estate Corporation, Becker was president and chief operating officer of one of the nation’s largest and most successful Coldwell Banker firms, overseeing 150 offices in Connecticut, New Jersey and Westchester and Rockland counties in New York. During his 15-year career there, he served as general sales manager and then senior vice president before taking over the reins. In that time, the firm grew from 11 to more than 150 offices and more than 4,000 sales associates. This growth resulted in the firm being recognized by Inc. Magazine as one of the fastest-growing companies in the nation.

Becker began his real estate career at a real estate firm in Mountain Lakes, N.J., where he joined as a sales associate and went on to purchase the company and open a second office in Sparta, N.J. He sold the firm in 1980, which led to his career in the larger organizations.
