Gordon A. Gundaker has been appointed President and Chief Executive Officer of Coldwell Banker Gundaker.
Prior to his appointment, Gundaker was the President and founder of Gundaker Realtors, the largest residential real estate organization in the St. Louis area. Recording nearly one-third of all transactions and twice the business of its nearest competitor. In May of 1999 Gundaker Realtors was ranked by the national real estate publication, Real Trends, as the seventh largest independently-owned residential real estate company in the United States, based on transaction sides.
A St. Louis native, Gundaker began his real estate career at age 20 selling homes for local builder Frank Zykan in suburban St. Louis. In 1956 he joined the John J. Armbruster Company, and rapidly became their leading salesperson, rising through the ranks to vice-president, and in 1964, part-owner. In 1968 Gordon left Arbruster and started his own business, opening his second office within a year.
In 1978, the 12-office Gundaker Realtors became a charter member of the newly formed Better Homes & Gardens real estate service. In 1986 he was invited to join the prestigious Masterminds group (now merged with The Realty Alliance), an organization comprised of the principals of many of the leading U.S. independently owned real estate firms.
In 2001, Gundaker Realtors was acquired by NRT, Incorporated which also owned Coldwell Banker Residential Brokerage in St. Louis. The newly united company became Coldwell Banker Gundaker, commanding a 50% market share in the St. Louis area with headquarters in the St. Louis suburb of Maryland Heights.
Gundaker has been involved with numerous charitable and civic projects, serving as President of the Arthritis Foundation' area chapter, and has been actively involved in many other organizations and events.
In 1998 Gordon was named "Realtor of the Year" by the 6,000 member St. Louis Association of Realtors. He currently serves on the Large Brokers Advisory Council of The National Association of REALTORS, and is a past Director of both the St. Louis Association of Realtors and Missouri Association of Realtors.
Gordon is the father of five children, and grandfather of eight. Gordon resides in the St. Louis suburb of Town & Country.
