George A. Hackett has served as President of Coldwell Banker Real Estate Services in Pittsburgh for more than 25 years. A Pittsburgh native who was working full-time as a history teacher in secondary schools, Hackett got his real estate license in 1974 and began his real estate career with the Hosack Real Estate agency. Despite working in real estate only part-time and joining the company in mid-year, Hackett still earned honors as Hosack's top agent in 1974. He continued to work part-time from 1975-76 and each year was among the top 10 agents in Pittsburgh. In January 1977, Hackett began working full-time as a sales associate, bought a 10% stake in the Hosack business and by 1981 was the company's General Manager and 30% owner. While managing, Hackett continued his sales career and twice was named Pittsburgh's #1 agent based on residential sales volume closed by the Greater Pittsburgh Board of Realtors.
In 1984, the Hosack Company was sold to Coldwell Banker Real Estate Services and Hackett was named General Manager. In 1986, he became the President for Coldwell Banker Pittsburgh where, today, Hackett oversees 13 residential real estate offices, along with separate divisions for mortgage and title services, corporate relocation services, property management, commercial property and new construction, in addition to more than 900 sales associates.
Hackett earned his bachelor's degree in secondary education from Clarion University and master's degree in counseling from Duquesne University. He is the current president of the West Penn-Multi-List, Inc. and, along with his wife Teddi, has two sons, George, Jr., and Ben. George and Teddi Hackett reside in the Franklin Park suburb of Pittsburgh.
