John McFarlin was appointed as the inaugural national director of Coldwell Banker Commercial NRT operations in October 1999. He has more than 25 years of commercial real estate experience, having represented commercial clients in liquidations and investment opportunities as a sales associate, general manager and owner of his own Coldwell Banker office.
In his role with NRT, McFarlin works in conjunction with the senior management teams across NRT's family of companies to ensure a consistent market image and uniform business practice standards that provide service continuity for NRT's commercial clients on a nationwide basis. In addition, McFarlin is responsible for establishing new commercial operations in markets where NRT already has a residential real estate presence.
NRTs commercial operation currently has offices serving segments of California, Colorado, Connecticut, Florida, Illinois, Indiana, Massachusetts, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania and Wisconsin. Under McFarlins direction, Coldwell Banker Commercial NRT has implemented a national associate certification program. He also designed NRTs commercial referral program, which leverages the depth and breadth of NRTs residential real estate organization to benefit NRTs commercial sales associates and clients.
In 1990, McFarlin joined a predecessor company of Coldwell Banker Commercial NRT in Florida, and from 1997 to 1999, he served as director of the company's statewide commercial operations. In that capacity, he was the driving force behind the development of NRT Commercial Business Systems and the implementation of these systems to further enhance the companys business base. Since becoming national director of NRTs commercial operations, McFarlin has applied a system of best practices nationwide, building on what he successfully developed in the Florida market.
A native of West Virginia, McFarlin holds a bachelor's degree from Wesleyan College and a master's degree from Northeastern Oklahoma University, where he also coached football. He completed his post-graduate work at the University of Arkansas.
